Waapaahsiiki: The Miami Indian term used for the limestone bed of the Wabash river near Huntington can be hard to relate to. The word is translated as “it shines white”, “pure white”, or “water over white stones”. With algae growth on the limestone bed near Huntington, the only way to see the light gray limestone was to scrub away the growth and sediment.
