Tribune-Star/Austen Leake
The fun starts here: Pumpkin Works in Paris, Illinois is in full swing with plenty of activities for the whole family. With all the great mazes and the wagon rides there's never a bad weekend when you take the trip to Paris. Whether you prefer the corn maze, which has taken the shape of a spiderweb this year, or something that may be a little scarier, Pumpkin Works has a maze that will work for you. With eleven mazes ranging from The Dungeon, which comes complete with the scary decorations in dark halways is one of the great mazes if being scared is more your speed. However if you like being outside in the great fall weather, the corn mazes are designed to be extra tricky this year.
There are plenty of things for the littler kids to do as well including the corn room, several play areas with slides and cutouts, or simpler mazes. Hayrides also have a wide variey of themes with something to please everyone. The Harvest Hayride travels to the pumpkin patch where you can pick out your own pumpkin to take home. On Friday and Saturday evenings the Spooky Hayride takes a scarier turn into the woods for a thrilling version of the day time Nature Hayride.
The Farm House Gift Shop is a great place to grab a souvenir or a something sweet to eat with delicious fudge, ice cream, and more being sold. Pumpkin Works will be open until the end of October, they are open during the weekdays from 10 A.M to 5 P.M. but on the weekends they stay open from 10 A.M to 10 P.M. and on Sundays they are open from 12 P.M. to 6 P.M., all Illinois time.
