Birds of Prey: Franklin Elementary School students were treated to a taste of wildlife Friday afternoon. The American Eagle Foundation brought a bald eagle Mr. Lincoln (pictured above with Wildlife Coordinator Christian Knatt) along with falcons, owls, and other birds of prey for the students to see. Karen Wilbur, Assistant Avian Coordinator and Christian Knatt talked to the students about the birds and what makes them so unique and special. A vulture named Buzz flew over the students' heads and Principal Tina Horrall even put on and had Buzz land on her arm. The event was the last stop of several schools being visited by the birds and it all culminates with Eagle Viewing Day at the Duke Energy Cayuga Generating Station. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the public can visit the station for free and can witness bald eagles in their natural environment.
