Tribune-Star/Jim Avelis Memory: Gary Kent, right, gave a gift of a portrait of his father, Harry Kent to the elder Kent's WWII Army buddy John Mace. Mace was with Harry Kent when he died in combat in 1945, just three days after getting notice that his son Gary had been born. 71 years later Mace and the younger Kent were able to meet up with help from Mace's former daughter -in-law Martha Alexander and (pictured at left) Vigo County Public Library librarian Christine Freisel.
