MET 050517 FALCONS BACK
Tribune-Star/Joseph C. Garza
Back you go: Retired non-game bird biologist John Castrale places one of the five Peregrine falcons he and DNR non-game bird biologist Allisyn Gillet just banded into their nest on top of the Sycamore Building on Friday. Castrale and Gillet completed the banding of the five chicks on the third floor of the building earlier and said they looked healthy and were "hefty" in weight with no feather lice. Gillet said that in most cases they find four chicks in a nest when they band but on Friday they found five which is unusual. The biologists also determined through the bands on the parents that the mother is from Missouri and the father is from Indianapolis.
