Marching for a reason: The Death Penalty Action and the local Terre Haute Death Penalty Resistance network hosted a forum on Sunday at St. Benedict Church’s Hellmann Hall to discuss the impact of the law and how to go about aboloshing it. Guest speakers included family members of murder victims who are against the death penalty like Bill Pelke. Also in attendance were Roderick Reed, brother of Rodney Reed, a death row inmate in Texas, and Charles Keith, brother of Kevin Keith, who is on death row in Ohio. After the program the group marched around the corner carrying signs and chanting about abolishing the death penalty. The group of about 50 people formed a circle in front of the United States Courthouse on Ohio Street and took turns talking about why they’re in this fight. At the conclusion of the event, “Amazing Grace” was sung by the group and they returned to Hellmann Hall for a dinner.
